Le peintre expressionniste français Bernard Buffet nait le 10 juillet 1928 à Paris. Il étudie au Lycée Carnot de 1939 et commence la peinture dès 10 ans. Renvoyé du Lycée, il suit des cours du soir en 1942. À 15 ans, il remporte le concours d’entrée de l’École nationale des Beaux-Arts et passe 2 années dans l’atelier du peintre Eugène Narbonne. L’année suivante, il expose son 1er tableau, un autoportrait. En 1947, c’est « L’Homme accoudé » et en décembre à sa 1ère expo il réalise sa 1ère vente au Musée national d’Art moderne de Paris pour « Nature morte au poulet ». En avril 1948, il présente « Le Buveur » et rencontre le Dr Maurice Girardin, collectionneur, qui acquiert 17 de ses toiles entre 1948-1953. En 1952, il reçoit le prix Antral. Suite à son coup de foudre pour sa muse Annabelle Schwob, en mai 1958, il lui consacre l’expo « Trente fois ». Le 13 mars 1974 il est élu à l’Académie des beaux-arts. Le Parkinson l’atteint et il se suicide le 4 octobre 1999 avec un sac en plastique noir.

The French expressionist painter Bernard Buffet was born on July 10, 1928 in Paris. He studied at the Lycée Carnot in 1939 and began painting at the age of 10. Discarded from high school, he took evening classes in 1942. At 15, he won the entrance exam to the National School of Fine Arts and spent 2 years in the studio of the painter Eugène Narbonne. The following year, he exhibited his first painting, a self-portrait. In 1947, it was "L’Homme accoudé" and in December at his first exhibition he made his first sale to the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris for "Still Life with Chicken". In April 1948, he presented "Le Buveur" and met Dr Maurice Girardin, collector, who acquired 17 of his paintings between 1948-1953. In 1952, he received the Antral Prize. Following his love at first sight for his muse Annabelle Schwob, in May 1958, he devoted the exhibition "Thirty Times" to her. On March 13, 1974 he was elected to the Academy of Fine Arts. With Parkinson's disease, he committed suicide on October 4, 1999 with a black plastic bag.
