AUGUST HAGBORG
Le peintre suédois August Hagborg naît à Göteborg le 26 mai 1852. Il étudie aux Beaux-Arts de Stockholm de 1872-74 et vient à Paris où il conserve un atelier. Il expose au Salon de Paris de 1876-1909. Résidant de Paris, il se fait remarquer à l'expo1876 avec « Un gavroche », achetée par le roi Oscar II. En 1877, il présente « L'attente, souvenir de Suède ». À l’expo1878, il présente « Väntan », pêcheur et sa fille dans ses bras. Au Salon de 1879, c’est la « Grande Marée dans la Manche » et il reçoit la médaille de bronze. Durant les étés en Suède, il peint des motifs figuratifs de la côte de la Scanie et du port de Dalarö. Après 1914, il séjourne sur la côte de la Dalécarlie, expose au salon du Champ-de-Mars et marie Gerda. Il meurt à Paris le 30 avril 1921 et est inhumé à un cimetière de Suède.
The Swedish painter August Hagborg was born in Göteborg on May 26, 1852. He was at the Beaux-Arts in Stockholm from 1872-74 and came to Paris where he kept a studio. He exhibits at the Paris Salon from 1876 to 1909. Resident of Paris, he stands out at Expo1876 with "A Newsboy", bought by the king Oscar II. In 1877, he presents "Waiting, remembrance of Sweden". At Expo1878, he presents "Väntan", a fisherman with his daughter in his arms. At the Salon of 1879, it is the "Great tide in the Channel" and he receives the bronze medal. During summers, in Sweden, he paints figurative motifs from the Skåne Coast and Dalarö Harbor. After 1914, he stays on the coast of Dalarna, exhibits at the show in Champ-de-Mars and marries Gerda. He dies in Paris on April 30, 1921 and is buried in a cemetery in Sweden.
