RUDOLPH STINGEL (5/8)
Le peintre allemand Rudolph Stingel naît en la ville italienne de Moreno, en 1956. Il vit et travaille à New York. Sa production de tableaux repose sur les relations entre l’abstraction et la figuration, les motifs et la texture, alliés à sa réflexion sur les questions existentielles de la mémoire, du temps et de la vanitas. Rudolf invite le spectateur à instaurer avec ses œuvres une relation visuelle et tactile. À partir de 1991, Stingel recouvre souvent des salles entières de tapis y compris les murs : il s’agit d’un environnement. Dans ses tableaux abstraits, il abandonne la géométrie et les éléments stylisés. L’autre partie du travail de Stingel recourt à la technique du photo-réalisme pour réaliser certains portraits.
The German painter Rudolph Stingel was born in Italian city of Moreno in 1956. He lives and works in New York. His paintings are based on the relationship between abstraction and figuration, patterns and texture, allied to his reflection on the existential questions of memory, time and vanitas. Rudolf invites the viewer to create with his works a visual and tactile relationship. In 1989, he created some abstract works with precision. From 1991, Stingel often covers entire rooms of carpets including walls: it is an environment. In his abstract paintings, he abandons geometry and stylized elements. The other part of Stingel's work uses the technique of photo-realism to make certain portraits.
