Le peintre américain Douglas Hofmann nait à Baltimore en 1945. Il fréquente une école de commerce, mais réalisant que ce genre de travail n'est pas pour lui, il travaille dans un grand magasin pour apprendre le design et la théorie des couleurs, ce qui l'inspire à essayer son talent dans les beaux-arts. Il s'inscrit au Maryland College Institute of Art puis à l'International Fine Art Gallery de Washington, D.C. En 1977, il expose aux USA et au Canada tout en apprenant la lithographie. Il est le récipiendaire de nombreux prix dont ceux du Peale Museum de Baltimore; du musée du comté de Washington, du Center Club de Baltimore et du Fonds de bourses d'études John F. et Ann Lee Stacey.

The American painter Douglas Hofmann was born in Baltimore in 1945. He originally attended business school but realizing it wasn’t for him, he worked in a department store learning about design and color theory, which inspired him to try his talent at fine art. He enrolled at the Maryland College Institute of Art and later at the International Fine Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. In 1977, he began exhibiting across the USA and Canada. He learned lithography. Hofmann is the recipient of numerous awards including prizes at the Peale Museum, Baltimore; the Washington County Museum, the Center Club, Baltimore; and the John F. and Ann Lee Stacey Scholarship Fund Grant.
